Sasha Rose, an organizing lead at Austin Mutual Aid (AMA), is a Two-Spirit QTPOC advocate and visionary leader dedicated to building systems of collective care through mutual aid. By centering the voices of marginalized communities, and following the lead of those with lived experience we collectively work to address inequities in Austin, TX. Under her guidance, AMA has grown into a collaborative hub that supports over 30,000 members in practicing mutual aid every day. AMA works with over 20 partner organizations to create impactful, community-driven solutions.

Sasha Rose’s unwavering commitment to supporting Austin Mutual Aid (AMA) stems from her deeply personal journey as a first-generation American and a surthriver of immense adversity. Her experiences of homelessness as a teen, single parenting and navigating the challenges of domestic violence, substance use disorders (SUDs) and neurodiversity and currently cancer have shaped her understanding of resilience and the importance of community care. Sasha knows firsthand the gaps in traditional support systems and the critical role that mutual aid plays in addressing those needs.

Having faced the isolation and stigma that often accompanies such struggles, she is driven to create inclusive, compassionate spaces where marginalized voices are not just heard but prioritized. Our collective lived experiences empower us to connect authentically with AMA’s mission to serve vulnerable populations with dignity, equity, and solidarity. Sasha’s leadership at AMA is a testament to their belief in the transformative power of collective care and her dedication to building systems by and for those most impacted by systemic injustices. Through AMA, she strives to ensure that others have the support and resources they need to overcome their own barriers and thrive.
