Austin and Travis County residents who are Deaf or hard of hearing can sign up to receive emergency alerts in American Sign Language through the City's Accessible Hazard Alert System. Registration takes less than a minute.

What to know

  • Register through the City's Accessible Hazard Alert System (AHAS)

  • Quick SMS registration: text AHAS to (737) 241-3710

  • Alerts are delivered in ASL and English voice and text

  • Available to Austin and Travis County residents in areas affected by an emergency or disaster

Sign up for AHAS by texting AHAS to (737) 241-3710 from your mobile phone. When an emergency or disaster affects your area, you will receive an accessible alert in American Sign Language along with English voice and text. The service is free and works on any mobile phone.
